I played as well in the
schoolbreaks as playing outside at home this game with throwing the 2
balls (and sometimes 3 balls) against the wall; Karel1. While you
mentioned the number you did the movement. I wonder if the young people
today know this also. It could be that I don't know it literally no
more...finally it has been many years ago. Besides it went to Karel 20,
but I remembered only till Karel 12.
Karel 1 broke his leg...1 (then you stand on one leg)
Karel 2 jump in the ocean sea...1 2 (you jump twice in the air)
Karel 3 had triplets on her knee...1 2 3 (you hit your knee three times)
Karel 4 drank four glasses of Heineken beer...1 2 3 4 (you make a gesture four times as if you drank)
Karel 5 hit his wife on her body...1 2 3 4 5 (you hit yourself five times on your chest)
Karel 6 stamped the cork on the empty bottle ...1 2 3 4 5 6 (you
stamp on the floor six times as if there was a bottle laying on the
floor)
Karel 7 waited a while (or Karel 7 rested for a while)...1 2 3 4 5 6 7
(you stand still for seven seconds and you don't have to throw the ball
against the wall)
Karel 8 was on military guard...1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 (you made the military
gesture with your hand by your head as if you were greeting a superior)
Karel 9 learned the small ones to wipe their feet...1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 (you make nine times a gesture as if you wipe your feet)
Karel 10 kissed Josefien in an old flying airplane...1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
10 (you make ten kissing gestures if necessary on the hand)

walk a little bit backwards by every count but the bigger the stap the
more difficult you make it yourself. You have to become handy to take
small steps so you can still throw the balls against the wall)
Karel 12 let the bimbam clock strike twelve...1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11
12 (the first ball you throw against the wall as normal so underhands
and you throw the second ball overhand; so with your palm down)
Searching on the Internet I saw that some people sang it differently. I think that each residence has got his own version.
